The project is an interactive
collection of texts, interviews,
video and art pieces that will
attempt to kick-start a debate
about the different kinds of
value 'derelict' buildings
can have in our lives.
We are developing this
website, and plan to produce
an anthology.
'The Derelict Sensation' is run
by a committee of interested
artists, photographers, filmmakers,
writers, academics and others.
There's an image problem with
the idea of 'derelict' buildings
- apparently they have no use,
are dirty and useless. So why
is it that some of our most
intense memories and experiences
revolve around derelict buildings?
Who has decided they have no
value? Who says they have no
life or soul?
Within the challenging
surroundings of London's
grandest derelict building,
The Midland Grand at St.
Pancras Station,
the derelict sensation
celebrates and explores our
experience of derelict
buildings or derelict spaces.
