Last
Orders
Pubs in London are
closing at a furious
rate. Where I live
there used to be
a pub called the
Red Cow, a former
music venue, which
was derelict for
a
long time and then
demolished, replaced
by a corporate bar
called Latymer's.
I never took a picture
of the Red Cow and
neither, it seems,
did anyone
else - so part of
our history and our
memory has completely
disappeared. I realised
that someone needed
to document them
before there was
nothing
left.
In "Last Orders"
I'm trying to picture
some of them before
they go forever,
whether turned into
offices or flats,
or simply demolished.
A few remain derelict
for years while others
vanish overnight.
Equipped with a camera
and whatever information
I can find I've started
to do that. I'd welcome
any suggestions or
contributions.
